Messiah Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and part of the Central States Synod of the ELCA, enjoying meaningful connections with Bethany College and the greater community of churches (ELCA and others) in the Smoky Valley.

Messiah Church has been designated a Reconciling on Christ (RIC) congregation in the ELCA since November 2024.

The Reconciling in Christ (RIC) designation is a public way for faith communities in the ELCA to see, name, celebrate, and advocate for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions in the Lutheran church. The RIC Program is made up of congregations, synods, colleges, seminaries, outdoor ministries, and other Lutheran organizations.

Currently, Messiah is a dynamic fellowship, actively seeking the Spirit’s guidance for what comes next as we lean into the needs and opportunities right in front of us and beyond!
